Tailor-made enzyme solutions
As the company name suggests, Biocatalysts Ltd. is a manufacturer of enzymes, but with a unique difference. Unlike other enzyme manufacturers that produce standard volume commodity enzymes, Biocatalysts' philosophy is to work alongside customers to solve their specific process problems and to produce custom-made products tailored to customers’ specific requirements. Based on Broste's set-up and technical focus Biocatalysts and Broste signed a distributor agreement on 1st of March 2005 .
"In our experience, many people do not consider using enzymes to help solve processing problems, since they do not know enough about enzymes and their potential benefits and actions. They are focused only on their current process and parameters, and find it difficult to think of enzymes as a possible solution. We have that knowledge, and can apply the technology and experience gained in a wide variety of industries to help solve a very wide range of food processing problems", noted Martin Duff of Biocatalysts.
On-going R&D development
The Biocatalysts' R&D programme is focused on the development of new enzymes and enzyme complexes tailored to their customers needs. Biocatalysts have many alliances with leading British Universities where most of the basic research into new enzymes is carried out. This allows the in-house scientists of Biocatalysts to focus directly on the needs of current customers, whilst keeping up to date with the latest developments in bioresearch.
