Picture your Dad and the family car, 25 years ago. Every other weekend, didn’t he stand out there, fiddling with the engine, checking the oil and watching out for signs of friction?Well, many fathers did. Not many people do that today! That’s not because people have become lazier. That’s because the cars are so much better. Not least the quality of lubricants and greases that keep the engine, the shock absorbers and the transmission running smoothly. 25 years ago cars needed re-lubrication every 2000 km. Now, it’s every 20.000 km.!Besides in cars, lubricants and greases are needed to keep almost every industry running. The applications of lubricants and greases can be divided into three different areas: Industrial products, transportation products, and metal working products. Industrial products include hydraulic fluids, refrigeration and compressor fluids, gear and chain lubricants, and greases for bearings. Transportation products include transmission fluids, engine oils, shock absorber fluids, and greases for bearings. Metal working products include cutting fluids, metal rolling oils, and coolants. Besides the increasing demand for high performing lubricants and greases, the last quarter of a century has seen intense regulatory efforts to minimize the potential harm to users of these fluids, and to reduce the impact to the environment caused by their use and disposal. As a consequence, Brøste works with partners that address these concerns seriously, and the majority of the raw materials Brøste sells to the industry are environmentally compatible and eco-toxicologically safe.
