Rubber

The dictionary definition of rubber is:

1. Naturally occurring elastic substance: a strong elastic material made by drying the sap from various tropical trees, especially the rubber tree.
2. Elastic synthetic substance: a strong elastic synthetic substance made either by improving the qualities of natural rubber or by an industrial process using petroleum and coal products.

As this natural material has unbeatable flexibility, we use it for at variety of purposes in our modern society. The automotive industry uses it for car tyres and re-vulcanisation, but also for transmission belts, shock absorbers and other products that need a high degree of flexibility.
